Surgery to repair broken knee

In the hospital after surgery-Grandpa's wheel chair

On January 1, 2009 Andrew was jumping on a trampoline as he was coming down, Kyle was starting to go up and Andrew landed on Kyle's foot. Andrew started screaming in pain. We carried Andrew into the house and layed him down on the recliner. He was given a blessing by his Dad and Uncle Jim. Steve and I took him to the hospital in Apple Valley where we found out that Andrew had broken his knee. He was given a splint, cruches, pain reliever prescription, and the directions to contact his doctor the following day. He slept on the couch with his leg elevated that night and was taken to the doctors the next day to receive a referral to a knee specialist. The Specialist explained that he needed to have surgery to repair the damage to his knee. Surgery was set up for January 8th - early in the morning. The bone was replaced and metal sutures were placed in the knee to keep the bone in place. Grandma Foster took care of the Day Care while I was at the hospital with Andrew. Waiting for him to get out of surgery seemed to take forever. Andrew was so brave and did very well. He came home a couple hours later. Grandma Laurel loaned him a Wheelchair that Papa used to use. That wheelchair was really useful. What a way to start out the new year!
